UCPN-Maoist, MJF-Nepal cadre exchange gunfire in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT, NOVEMBER 13 - A clash between cadres of UCPN-Maoist and Madhesi Jana Adhikar Forum-Nepal took an ugly turn in Rautahat, resulting in an exchange of gunfire that left two injured.

The exchange of gunfire at Inarwa-2 of Rautahat on Wednesday evening injured Amod Patel, a local resident, and a policeman from Rautahat-3 who was providing security to UCPN-Maoist candidate Prabhu Sah. Police Sub-inspector Som Nepali was seriously injured while he tried to take the situation under control. He has sustained injuries to his head and hands, said Rautahat District Police Office.

The clash on Wednesday afternoon in Matiarwa of Inarwa VDC-9 became aggravated and resulted in gunfire exchange between the UCPN-Maoist and MJF-N activists. The clash in the afternoon left seven from both sides injured, with a vehicle with Indian registration vandalized.

MJF-N cadres had attempted to disrupt the election assembly of Prabhu Sah, UCPN-Maoist candidate of Rautahat-3, ensue by the clash between the two groups. Superintendent of Armed Police Force Birendra Raj Shrestha informed that security personnel from the district have been deployed to the clash site after the incident.
