UCPN-Maoist cadres' attack injures 10 NC men in Nuwakot

NUWAKOT, NOVEMBER 13 – Ten Nepali Congress activists were injured in an attack by the UCPN-Maoist cadres in Dangsing, Nuwakot.

The UCPN-Maoist cadres attacked NC activists of Samari VDC in Kafalpani jungle of Dangsing, ward no. 2 on Tuesday night. Ten of our men have been injured in the attack, said NC district secretary Laxman Shrestha.

According to Shrestha, the UCPN-Maoist cadres attacked NC activists in the jungle with rods and lathi while they were returning from Samari to Dangsing.

The injured include Ram Bahadur Tamang, Jit Bahadur Tamang, Aait Singh Tamang, Santa Kumar Tamang, Jasbir Tamang, Badri Bahadur Tamang, Bijay Tamang, Megh Bahadur Tamang and Som Bahadur Tamang. They are receiving treatment at the district hospital. Jit Bahadur and Ram Bahadur have been sent to Kathmandu for further treatment. NC has accused the team of Maoist cadres led by Akkal Tamang of Samari and YCL cadres from Dhading for the attack. They have also looted 8 mobile phones along with Rs. 16,000 cash and a motorbike with the registration Ba 57 Pa 9656, Shrestha said.

Meanwhile, UCPN-Maoist-Nuwakot leader Hira Nath Khatiwada has claimed that his party had no role in the attack. YCL cadres from Dhading had come to attend the UCPN-Maoist program in Samari on Tuesday. Four of the Maoist cadres were injured in the attack of NC cadres on
