Prem Bahadur Tamang was born on January5, 1981 in Daibung Jibjibe-6 of Rusuwa to Hari Bahadur Glan and Sanu Kanchhi Tamang. He passed sub-overseer level. His political career began from his student life.

Tamang, chief of Samyukta Janakrantikari Parisad Rasuwa of UCPN-Maoist,   worked as a platoon commissioner of Maoist’s combatants during the insurgency period. 

Tamang, close to Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai panel, was elected from Rasuwa in the 2008 CA election, bagging 11,147 votes defeating CPN-UML’s candidate Madhav Prasad Aryal with significant vote differences. His closest opponent Aryal received 4,604 votes while another rival Bal Chandra Paudel of NC received 3,631 votes.  He was with Committee on State Restructuring and Distribution of State Power and Committee on Natural Resources and Means in the previous CA.
