Central member of UCPN-Maoist and In-charge of Tharuwan State Committee, Nawaraj Subedi was born on April 22, 1962 in Bijuwar-7 of Pyuthan to Ganapati and Saraswati Subedi. He, gold medalist in Master’s Degree in Law from Delhi University, joined politics from the students’ movement of 1979 and took membership of the CPN 4th convention in 1981.

During 1985 to 1993, Subedi took dual responsibility of teacher as well as secret cadre of CPN-Masal . After the split of the party in 1985, he took side of CPN- unity centre.  He left teaching profession in 1994 and elected to the parliament twice from Pyuthan- 2 , in 1994 and 1999.

Subedi , former general secretary of Rastriya Jana Morcha, attained the central committee of CPN-Masal in 1997. But after the disputes with Mohan Bikram Singh and Narayan Kazi Shrestha, Subedi, with Ram Singh Shrish established the CPN- unified. Again after disputes, he established CPN-unified under his own leadership and later the party has merged with UCPN-Maoist and thus, became politburo member of UCPN-M.  Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal and CPN (Unified) leader Nabaraj Subedi signed a memo on the unification between the two parties on April 3, 2010, agreeing to settle ideological issues at the upcoming general convention of the Maoist party.

Subedi, close to Dr. Babu Ram Bhattarai’s panel, has led the taskforce to define martyrs on April 2012 as the coordinator.
