Unified CPN-Maoist leader Posta Bahadur Bogati was born on July 18, 1953. Born to Bhairab Bahadur and Lekha Kumari Bogati in Tupche-2 in Nuwakot, he got attracted towards leftist politics since 1968 and started active politics from 1977 by joining the Communist Party led by Pushpa Lal Shrestha. He later joined CPN - Unity Centre and actively took part in the armed people’s conflict launched by the then CPN -Maoist.

He became the Western Regional Bureau In-Charge during the conflict period in 1996 and assumed the In-Charge of Western Command of the Maoist in 2001. By 1998, he was a Politburo member of the CPN-Maoist and later became the Central Secretary.

Bogati represented UCPN-Maoist in the CA Election-2008 and was elected from with 16,735 votes, defeating his closest opponent Bahadur Singh Lama Tamang of NC. Tamang received 15,095 votes while another opponent Mahendra Bahadur Pandey CPN-UML had 6,353 votes to his name. He was with Committee on Natural Resources, Financial Rights and Revenue Sharing and Public Account Committee.  

After the Constituent Assembly election, he was appointed as the Chief Whip of the Parliamentary Party of the Unified CPN-Maoist. He was assigned as the General Secretary from the 7th convention of UCPN- Maoist, held in Hetauda.

His political includes Minister for Information and Communications as well as Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

He has two daughters and a son.
