Ram Rijhan Yadav was born in 1960 in Sanahichha Village of Siraha. Son of Bishwanath Yadav and Jadiya Devi Yadav, Ram Rijhan is a father of two daughters. He holds a Master's Degree in Botany from Mithila University of Darbhanga, India. He is contesting from Siraha-3 in the CA Election 2013 representing UCPN-Maoist.

He came into politics in 1976 from CPN (Fourth Convention) and became advisor and central member of the underground CPN (Masal). He is associated with UCPN-Maoist after the party unification between CPN (Maoist) and Unity Center (Masal) in 2009. The 7th Convention of the UCPN-Maoist held in Hetauda elected him as the party's central member.

Having taught in Mahendra Morang Aadarsha Multiple Campus in Biratnagar for 17 years, Yadav left the profession and fully dedicated himself to politics in 2000. He had also worked as journalist since 1987 and was associated with Mulyankan Weekly. He was elected as central member of the Federation of Nepalese Journalists (FNJ) in 2001. He later became a member of Press Council, Nepal as well.

He was jailed six times in course of his career as a politician, journalist and professor. He was honored with 'Swatantrata Senani' (freedom fighter) by the FNJ in 2007. Yadav was the press advisor of Dr. Baburam Bhattarai during the latter's term as the prime minister.

Yadav is the founder of Birat Science Campus in Biratnagar and is a life-member of Nepal Red Cross Society. He is also the trustee of the Janaki-Bishwanath Memorial Academy formed in memory of his parents.
