Central member of UCPN-Maoist Urmila Aryal was born on October 5, 1956 in Masiyani VDC of Parsa. Currently a resident of Birgunj, Aryal is the daughter of Balram Aryal and JagatmayaAryal. She has a son and a daughter. She holds Master's Degrees in Economics and Sociology. She is contesting from Parsa-5 in the CA Election 2013 representing UCPN-Maoist.

Brought up in a communist family, Aryal was introduced to politics at a very tender age. She joined CPN (Fourth Convention) in 1972 and became its Parsa District member in 1979 and received the party membership since then.

She was FSU vice-chairman at Thakurram Multiple Campus during the 1979 student protests. In 1981, she became the central president of All Nepal Women Association of the CPN (Fourth Convention).

She was involved in United Left Front during the democracy movement of 1990. She joined CPN (ML) at that time. She was chosen as Parsa District Committee member of CPN-UML in 1994. She filed her nomination from Parsa-4 representing the UML in the parliamentary elections of 1991, 1994 and 1999. She won only once in 1999.

In 2007, Aryal became State Minister for Women, Children and Social Welfare and Minister for Local Development in 2012.She quit CPN-UML on May 18, 2013 and joined UCPN-Maoist. Now a central member of UCPN-Maoist, Aryal never had the opportunity to become a central member during her association with the UML.
