Ganesh Man Pun was born on December 4, 1974 in Pwang VDC-1, Rukum. He is the son of Dil Bahadur and Teji Pun. He has passed Proficiency Certificate Level and has two sons. He is contesting from Rukum-1 in the CA Election 2013 representing UCPN-Maoist.
Pun came into politics by joining School Unit Committee of ANNISU (Revolutionary) in 1988 while he was in school. He became Rukum District president of ANNISU (Revolutionary) in 1992. He took the membership of CPN (Masal) in 1991 and became the party's area secretary in 1992. He became the District Committee member after the formation of Unity Center.
Pun had led the attack on Rukum's Aathbiskot Police Post when the then CPN (Maoist) launched the armed revolution in 1996. He was appointed as Rukum District secretary of CPN (Maoist) in 1997. He was jailed in 1998 and was imprisoned again for four years in 1998. He managed to escape from Bheri Zonal Hospital, Nepalgunj with the help of Urban Team while he was taken for treatment.
In 2002, Pun became the UCPN-Maoist's Regional Bureau member and went on to become the party's central member. He was appointed as political commissar of the Maoist combatant in 2005 and became the Fourth Division commander in 2006. In 2007, he became the central president of the UCPN-Maoist's youth wing YCL and has held the position since then. He is also a central member of the UCPN-Maoist.
