Born on March 3, 1957 in Dallu, Kathmandu, a polit-bureau member of CPN-UML, Raghuji Pant plunged into politics from student life. Participated actively in 1979's anti-panchayat movement, journalist cum politician Panta remained in a jail briefly.  

Ex-editor at weekly Yugdhara (Red) , weekly Chhalfal, Panta was elected as a general secretary at  Federation of Nepali Journalists. A graduate Panta also served as an advisor and a member at Press Council.  Involved actively from 1979, he served the party from the key post of chief at various departments including Central Publicity Department, Cultural Department and Social Service Department.

Founder coordinator of Jansankritic Manch, Panta was elected to the parliament in 1994 and 1999, from Lalitpur-3. Ex-minister for Labor and Transport, Panta lost 2008 CA election from Lalitpur-3.  

He is the son of Omkar Prasad and Sushila Pant.
