Narahari Acharya was born on September 27, 1953 in Kathmandu's Bisharnagar. He is the son of Umanath and Rewati Acharya. Father of two daughters, Acharya holds a Master's Degree from Humanities Faculty. He also taught for 16 years at the Tribhuvan University. He is contesting from Kathmandu-5 in the CA Election 2013 representing Nepali Congress.

Involved with Nepali Congress since 1968, Acharya took the party membership only in 1997. He became a member of the National Assembly in 1992. He was appointed as Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.

Acharya won the CA Election 2008 from Kathmandu-5 with 13,245 votes. His nearest opponent and UML general secretary Ishwar Pokhrel received 9,120 votes and Dipendra Prakash Maharjan of CPN (Maoist) came third with 8,089 votes.

Central member of NC Acharya was jailed for a year in course of his political activities.
