Born on October 23, 1965 in Bhanbhane, Rangsi VDC-9 of Rolpa, Nanda Bahadur Pun is the son of Ramsur and Manasara Pun. He has studied up to Proficiency Certificate Level. He is contesting from Kathmandu-4 in the CA Election 2013 representing UCPN-Maoist.

Came into politics in 1981 by joining ANNFSU (Sixth), Pun became the central member of the then CPN (Maoist) in 2001. Commander of the Maoist combatants, Pun had led almost all the major attacks during the armed conflict. During the army integration process, attempts were made to induct Pun as general of the Nepal Army. However, the attempts did not materialize and he took voluntary retirement.

Though he remained in public attention throughout the conflict period, his flair sort of diminished after the Maoists joined the peace process. He always complained that the party did not appropriately evaluate his role during the conflict.

Considered as being close to the party chairman, Pun suffered failure of both of his kidneys. However, he declined going abroad for treatment. He has been receiving treatment within the country.
